Our Scholarships

The Vijnanadeepam–Punnyam Little Scholarship Scheme has been a beacon of support for visually impaired school children in Kerala for the past four years. This initiative is designed to provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate strong academic performance while also facing economic hardship. By rewarding both merit and need, the scheme ensures that deserving children are not held back from pursuing their education due to financial constraints.

When the program was first launched, it was sustained entirely through the heartfelt contributions of the administrators and volunteers within the Vijnanadeepam community. For the first two years, their generosity kept the scholarships alive and impactful. As the program grew, it attracted the support of the Punnyam Charitable Organization, an association of American-Malayali women committed to philanthropy. With their sponsorship, the reach of the scheme expanded, allowing more students to benefit from increased scholarship amounts. These funds are thoughtfully distributed in two installments each year, ensuring consistent support throughout the academic calendar.

The selection process is rigorous and fair. Students are chosen based on their performance in written examinations, followed by interviews assessed by a panel of qualified experts. This system ensures that scholarships are awarded to those who not only excel academically but also show promise and determination in the face of challenges.

Today, the scholarship continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of young learners. Currently, 28 students from various districts across Kerala are recipients of this valuable support, enabling them to pursue their education with greater confidence and fewer financial worries.
